A trained classical composer, the internal sonic realm of Aniek De Rooj soon revealed itself as an electronically-amplified demeanour of high voltage, woman and machine introspections through her meticulously curated alter-ego Alberta Balsam. Charged wires and knobs twist under her wizardly guidance, producing extraterrestrial sounds for a tense and technical, meandering and moody auditory experience.
Sparked by unpredictability, Alberta Balsam’s creative technique tightens the bolt and edges of textures in rhythm, with every rough curve ahead unknown. The clever synchronisation of clattering drum pads, hyper-beep squeaks, mechanic whirring drones, noise distortion and disruption exposes the enigmatic dimensions of her craft.
Stepping up to deliver IA MIX 385, Alberta Balsam’s carefully pieced-together mix weaves a winding tale of magnetic character. Dextrously manipulated synths, coarse beat patterns, and industrial disorder open a wormhole of multiversal music, complex yet cohesive by nature – dig in.

NEWS // MIKE SCHOMMER LINES UP REMASTERED DOUBLE VINYL EDITION OF ‘DC15’ ON DEEPCHORD RECORDS
First released in February 2002 as a limited edition CDr, Mike Schommer’s mythical album as Von Schommer has been remastered and pressed on double white vinyl via Deepchord Records for the first time ever.
Consisting of eleven untitled tracks, ‘dc15‘ dives deep into grainy ambient and dub techno music, resulting in an album that joins the dots between La Monte Young, King Tubby & Luigi Russolo and that occupies the same foggy spaces as legendary projects from Richie Hawtin’s ‘Concept 1’ and Wolfgang Voigt’s ‘Studio 1‘.

For the second edition of Speciale, Swiss producer Ben Kaczor teams up with Italian production duo Orion to deliver a split EP of dark hypnotic house music that defines Kaczor’s deep musical taste characterised by hypnotic grooves and synths soundscapes together with melancholic bass. Imagine this record as a single entity: a journey into a dusty club where grooves and melodies guide you towards dawn.
NEWS // OLIVER COATES REVEALS THIRD ALBUM ON RVNG INTL. ‘THROB, SHIVER, ARROW OF TIME’
Glasgow-based cellist, producer and sonic experimentalist Oliver Coates announces his third long player for Brooklyn-based record label RVNG Intl., serving up a capsule of personal resonance and remembrance, assembled over the past six years exploring ambient, shoegaze and drone metal.
Spanning 10 reflective compositions, ‘Throb, shiver, arrow of time‘ is said to be “all about inaccurate transmissions from our memories, overlaid with emotions from other sources,” says Coates. The release is imbued with the ache and glow of recollections mulched together, where the guttural dissonance of misremembering is shrouded by strange orbs of sentiment.

Spanning 4-tracks, ‘Pensée Sculpture‘ delivers four exquisite compositions that dive headfirst into the astral plane – ranging from experimental electronica to lysergic IDM via flute work, spoken word and even neo-classical. If you’re after the sonic equivalent of a DMT trip, look no further!
Limited to just 300 units, ‘Pensée Sculpture‘ has been lovingly manufactured using Bio Vinyl by the folks over at Deepgrooves pressing plant in The Netherlands.

For the second volume of Reflections, RVNG Intl. welcome Black Decelerant, the duo of Khari Lucas, aka Contour, and Omari Jazz, to explore improvisational jazz traditions through contemporary tone and texture, fostering sonic meditations on themes of Black being and nonbeing, life and mourning, expansion and limitation, and the individual and collective. The Black Decelerant collaboration, and intention, creates space for listeners to be still, while providing a basis for a movement beyond “the moment.”
