IA MIX 381 GAMMA INTEL
INTERVIEW BY ASMI SHETTY
Operating in the neighbourhood of Rotterdam, one of its finest electro technicians, Gamma Intel, is a steady and sharp signal in the network of the Dutch underground. Uninhibited, cerebral-tickling, sound architecture deploys serious craftsmanship honed from meticulously polishing every texture from his singular, chiselled perception of audio design over constructive time.
Outside his explosive production unit, Gamma Intel activates the same intellect on any territory, dancefloors or otherwise, spinning oddball hot numbers to make you sweat. A perfectionist by nature, he commits to disruptive, magnetic rhythms, all assembled with a curious mind deliberately free from restraints, forming a hyper-vortex music experience.
Rest assured, the Dutchman strikes with bullseye precision on IA MIX 381, hammering sound selections sourced and refined on his laboratory work table. Mechanical whirrs and a barrage of bolstered beats crackle in this tasty execution from Gamma Intel—setting forth a blaze hard to quench. Feel the warmth.

ALBUM REVIEW
LOW END ACTIVIST - AIRDROP
WRITTEN BY ASMI SHETTY
A palpable sense of fear and excitement grips the skin, hair-raising on the back of the neck, electric shock-waves, filthy undercurrents of UK rave blow the fuse, and the sirens pop off, smoking out rooms, fellow ravers infiltrating slowly like red ants to sugar. Thanks to Sneaker Social Club head Jamie Russell, street name Low End Activist‘s delicious piece of aggressively scraped dub, dungeon noise, long-tease, hyper touch-sensitive of a tape ‘Airdrop‘.
Pure manic freakshow-inducing release on LA’s Peak Oil, ‘Airdrop‘ is all mutating cyber-bleeps wrung out over agonised writhing blares and cheeky strands of breakbeat flirt with silence. The Bristol-born now Berlin-based artist goes certifiably low, as desired, razor-cutting through layers of jungle, grime and whatnot, stripping it to its core for a strongly pleasuring, haunting and hardcore ambience.
Nine deconstructions of Airdrop on the tape are evidence of the notorious, autobiographical hints, titled loosely like unintentional voice memos recorded on a whimsy hangover. ‘Yarton Rd 2 Cassingston‘, ‘Mayhem on Barton Hill‘, and ‘Praha Hardcore‘ reverberate in the hollow, dubwise, beatless sound engineered for delayed gratification. ‘Squeeze Yer Lemon‘, ‘White Horse Hill‘, and ‘Tango Skit‘ traces of elated synths, intensified drums crackle and pound a few impressions on a high-fidelity sound system, leaving you sweat-drenched.
Airdrop loads to the brim on some ferocious dancefloor pressure. Big-energy, bass-face, gun-finger stroking masterwork productions from the bottomless barrels of the Low End Activist – one that’s seriously hot.

FEDERSEN & HIDDEN SEQUENCE
POSITIVE CHARGE EP
San Francisco-based producer Federsen inaugurates his Alt Dub imprint with an exquisite EP consisting of four deep and hazy dub techno tracks from himself and Cologne-based production duo Hidden Sequence.
Releasing music since 2010, Federsen has issued music on labels including Canadian label Silent Season, Lithuania label Greyscale, UK label Lempuyang and most recently through German label What Robot Says Records. Remaining loyal to the Basic Channel continuum, Federsen employs a combination of vintage tape delays and analog equipment to create a distinctive and deep sound of dub-infused electronic music.
Consisting of four tracks, 'Positive Charge' EP delivers the finest calibre of deep house and dub techno with unwavering gravitas thanks to upbeat kicks, hypnotic blends of expansive chords and pulse driven rhythms that have become so synonymous with this style of music.
Pressed on heavyweight blue marble vinyl, listeners can rest assured that the quality of wax is on par with the music. Our pick from the release is Federsen's solo track 'Polarity', which could easily sit alongside the likes of Basic Channel, Maurizio or even Deepchord. This is a potent debut EP from two producers that have invested countless hours in order to master this sound.
